There are a lot of names to call the one power that resides in you. Some call it source energy, connection to the universe, God-self, I Am, Buddha, Creator within, the divine, your light, your higher self, seat of the soul, and the power within. Use the term that you are comfortable with. In this article, I will be using God to describe it.
Humans use 10% of the brain, imagine if humans used 100% of the brain.
God- Guidance of Divine mind.
Whether you are aware of it, God resides in you. This essence connects you to all the sources of the world, and universe. God is in every living breathing thing that is around you. So literally you are never alone.
I find a lot of people look for God outside of their self. Closing the door to God that is within. This is done by additions, possession of things, ego, money, greed, competition, relationships, and anything that you give your power to that is outside of yourself. Once you realize this, you can then open the door to your God Self.
God lies sleeping in a individual until, they are ready to listen. There are times when he will give you a hunch, a gut feeling, intuition about something. Remember when you got a gut feeling about something. Your God self was trying to tell you what to do.

Once you open the door to your God self, he is with you 24/7.
Things you might feel if you are not connected to your God Self are- loneliness, being empty, unworthy, hiding your talent, not shining your light, denial, depression, fear, just surviving, withdrawal, lack of caring, fearful, competition with every one around you, not expressing yourself, grief, lack of self image, anger, boredom, self pity, rejection, every one is doing it to you, and just getting by.
Things you will feel if you are connected to your God Self are- happiness, joy, abundance, connection, love, peace, gratitude, shining your light, doing God's purpose, support, being free, harmony, self fulfilling, embracing, passion for being alive, blessed, the world is a better place with you in it.
